Ragwood Cottage is 2 miles from Cheddar, famous for cheese making and the magnificent gorge and caves.

Nearby, the city of Wells has a 13th-century cathedral and many historic buildings.

Other attractions include Wookey Hole, Glastonbury Tor and Abbey, the cities of Bath and Bristol, the lakes and birdlife of Chew Valley, and for walkers and cyclists, the many footpaths around the Mendips and Somerset Levels.

There is a drinkers pub within ½ mile, and there are several pubs that do great food within two miles, in Wedmore. Cheddar also has its fair share of pubs, along with the world famous Cheddar Gorge and Caves.

Wells has a 13th century cathedral and the Bishops Palace, along with a bustling high street and active markets. It is also very close to Wookey Hole, another important local tourist attraction.

Other major towns and cities nearby include Glastonbury, famous for Glastonbury Tor and Glastonbury Abbey, and Bath, with the newly re-opened Roman Baths and Spa, and of course The Royal Crescent, the famous Georgian world heritage site.

For walkers there are the Mendip Hills, and the Somerset Levels, and if you like the sea we are near Weston super Mare, a Victorian seaside resort with a Grand Pier and aquarium, as well as lots of beach-front.

If you like to cycle, there is the famous "Strawberry Line"...This disused railway line between Yatton and Cheddar today forms a railway walk and part of the National Cycle Network route 26.
